Hi everyone:

A few weeks ago I blew the USB controller of my R40, and after some
really helpful comments from many on this list, I decided to buy a
pcmcia USB2 card.

Well, I just got it, but I am having troubles with it. This card works
perfect in a Toshiba laptop with both WinXP and Linux (FreeSpire 1.0),
but in my R40 (Linspire 5.1 & FreeSpire 1.0) I get the following
messages upon insertion:

  uhci_hcd 0000:03:00.0: UHCI Host Controller
uhci_hcd 0000:03:00.0: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 5
  uhci_hcd 0000:03:00.0: irq 11, io base 0x00004000
  hub 5-0:1.0: USB hub found
  hub 5-0:1.0: 2 ports detected
uhci_hcd 0000:03:00.0: host system error, PCI problems?
uhci_hcd 0000:03:00.0: host controller process error, something bad
    happened!
uhci_hcd 0000:03:00.0: host controller halted, very bad!
uhci_hcd 0000:03:00.0: HCRESET not completed yet!
uhci_hcd 0000:03:00.0: HC died; cleaning up
hub 5-0:1.0: config failed, can't get hub status (err -108)
uhci_hcd 0000:03:00.0: HC died; cleaning up
Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address
    00000020 printing eip:
  f8b7130a
  *pde = 00000000
  Oops: 0000 [#1]
  PREEMPT

... many more messages up to:

<6>note: pccardd[4252] exited with preempt_count 2

So, when I blew the USB controller, did I also somehow damaged the PCI
bus ?, or is there some incompatibility between the card and my R40 ?

Any thoughts ?

Pablo
