Hi Jon

My use case is this:
(1) At work I use laptop (1400x1050) in a dock with external LCD display
(1280x1024) - giving me two screens wide.
(2) Then travelling home use laptop alone (1400x1050).
(1) Then at home plug into a dock to provide same twin-screen display as
at work.
(3) Then occasionally need to run a projector (1280x1024 or 1024x768)
off external monitor port on laptop to give presentations.

This works completely seamlessly with Windoze. At one stage I had
scenarios 1 & 2 working with FC5 and the proprietary ATI drivers (but 3
didn't work), but after upgrading it to FC6 it no longer worked, and the
latest ATI drivers no longer support my ATI Mobility FireGL 9000. I'm
hoping a more modern thinkpad graphics card will have good support for
twin-head. I don't mind having to restart the X-server to switch configs
(although I'd rather not) but rebooting and/or reconfigurating X
manually is a no-no.

Cheers
Phil

However, with Xgl disabled it appeared to detect and switch displays fine. I set up an extended desktop across the displays with no problems, but didn't get as far as configuring individual resolutions etc. If there's a specific config you're interested in, I could probbaly try it this evening..
