Hi Jeffrey,

Try Frys.com or newegg.com.  They typically have 160G USB units for 
around $50.  Heck, a 1 TB Maxtor USB/Firewire external is now in the low 
$300 range.

Once you find a unit, check pricewatch.com or froogle.com to see if it's 
cheaper elsewhere.

I use rsync for simple notebook backups, BTW.
