Hei,

i had my ThinkPad T41p torn apart around this time last year due to the
apparently not too unknown problem with a broken mainboard caused by
laptop bending (grabbing on one corner).

The service left me with two new problems...a sometimes vibrating fan
and a malformed model-type id in the bios.

I was always meaning to get it serviced again withing warranty but
couldn't be bothered until the warranty expired end of last month.

So, i just fixed the fan issue myself, but am left with the model-type
id problem.

My original id was 2373-GHG and i saw the service gui program the id
into the new eprom using a usb floppy drive and a special service
floppy. Unfortunately he must have done something wrong, because my new
id is 7399-23G.

I tried using the bios upgrade to set the id, but it only lets me change
the last 3 digits.

Does anyone know of a way to reprogram the id?

Thanks,
Andr=C3=A9.
