The Cx levels you see are ACPI-mapped ones.  C4 in thinkpads might be the
CPU's C8 for all we know.  One would need to check some ACPI tables to know
about it exactly (unless the kernel is exporting the mapping somewhere).

And usually, you only get C4 when on battery.
