Yes.  For such an example, see http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Idle_consumptions
where someone posted 2 measurements for an X60s running Debian etch and
where going from "ipw3945 set to powersave mode 7" to "ipw3945 unloaded"
causes the machine to consume 0.7W more.
