With or without them on 2.6.26.1 I can no longer suspend on a T61, with
hibernate-scripts or pm-utils - it gets to the final stage where it
flashes the num and capslock LEDs before suspending, but then never
does, leaving the system completely unresponsive and requiring a hard
power-off.
