| Ubuntu has everything working well except that sometimes wifi goes
| flaky and i have to reboot also on occasions, the machine seems to
| take a few minutes to resume from suspend.

On my new Notebook Lenovo Thinkpad R61 (8943-DMG) I've discovered the
same problem mentioned above (Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10). After two weeks of
reading and trying nearly everything I was able to find with the help of
Dr. Google, I accidentally have found a solution (I think it was a
Debian mailing list). I's a simple typing error or renamed kernel module :-)

In the file /etc/acpi/resume.d/72-acpi-pain.sh the script tries to
modprobe a module called acpi-sbs that doesn't exist. I just changed the
line to >modprobe sbs< and added a line before which contains >modprobe
- -r sbs< and everything works fine. I'm very happy because I have now all
features of my Notebook working!
