You seem to contradict some of the other myths out there; that leaving
the battery attached while plugged into AC is not harmful, but others
including IBM representatives themselves claim that it is (if for no
other reason than increased heat degrading the life of the battery). 

It would seem that charging the battery to 40%-85%, removing it and
keeping it in a cool, dry place.. is the only consistent theme that I've
heard over the years.
