[ltp] New bluetooth modules for older (T42/T43) Notebooks?

This has bugged me for some weeks now and I the right place to ask might
be here:
Does anyone of you know whether it might be possible to put one of the
newer Bluetooth/Modem Combo modules with EDR capability into one of the
older T40/T42/T43 Notebooks? After all, they are connected via USB so
there is no need for special drivers. But I do not know if the connector
might have changed.

Anyone here ever checked this or even tried?
