OK, I tried it when playing some music.

acpi_osi="!Linux":
Mute button mutes internally, i.e. alsamixer / kmix does not see it. Unmuting 
works by pressing the Volume Up key.


acpi_osi="Linux":
Mute button sends key events. I have kmilo installed which is listening on these 
events and mutes /unmutes the "Master" alsa device.

When specifiying the parameter not at all I have the same behavior as when using 
acpi_osi="Linux". I think in 2.6.24 the kernel uses it automaticall when 
recognizing a thinkpad (T61 ?).

I used the sources directly from the git tree retrieved by the "tree" link from
