I run the rt kernel on my T60 most of the time and I haven't noticed any issues with
power consumption.

$ uname -a
Linux torg 2.6.25.4-rt6 #1 SMP PREEMPT RT Wed Jun 18 22:19:02 CDT 2008 x86_64 x86_64
x86_64 GNU/Linux

Of course, if you're running an app that need maximum determinism and you've disabled
cpuspeed, irqbalance, etc. then Your Mileage May Vary(tm) :).
