There are also widescreen models with 1280x800 (mine has Intel video).

FWIW I don't find the screen horrible, although the colours look worse
than on my external 19" 1280x1024 Samsung SyncMaster 193p+.  The same
horizontal resolution is nice for vertical dual-head (and I can't use
horizontal dual-head because of stupid driver limitations of texture
size to 2048x2048).

Thinkwiki says WXGA is 1280x800, and WXGA+ is 1440x900.
