The sources are out there.

Actually, if I pay closer attention to
/sys/class/backlight/acpi_video{0,1}/brightness which shows the level as
0..15 rather than 0..100, I can see that a single Fn-End reduces the
acpi_video1 level by two (acpi_video0 level always stays at 15).  Looks
like Ubuntu does daft things too.
