Dual monitors works fine with me - using the latest ati/radeon from git 
- but I'm pretty sure it works with the hardy version too.
If you've got clone screen working try:
    xrandr --output VGA0 --right-of LVDS
(assuming you're running on the laptop screen and a VGA monitor).

man xrandr for more details

I'm using gl2 driver with mplayer, looks ok but full screen is really 
really slow. Works fine at normal video size.
