Hi Volker,

normally i'm using my 20" widescreen philips via analog, because the
x301 has VGA with 15-pin D-sub connector and DP (Displayport with
integrated audui [imho for the audio part]), to connect the x301 via
digital i need an DP-DVI-Adapter which works quite well, but haveing to
detach the plug everytime i move away from my workspace (the x301 has no
good docking option) is annoying since the DP Connector seems a little
bit fragile. so iam always going withe the VGA port.
Personally i don't see any difference between VGA/DVI i guess it depends
a lot on the Display and it's integrated electronics.

However, i plugged my monitor in to the DP port to confirm that it's
working.

is your monitor detected by xrandr, if it is connected to the DVI Port.
Bios settings shouldn matter much.

so far,
Ferdinand

P.s.: Power Consumption withe Ubuntu 9.04 Beta is down to ~6W, without
disabling DRI.
