I have an R51 (an 28885RU with the Intel 855GM graphic card), and over the
past two years, I used it with Gentoo, Fedora 9 and 10, and Ubuntu 8.05, but
never managed to get it going through a suspend/resume cycle consistently I
mentioned it on this list a few times and had opened a bug report at
freedektop.org (http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17833).

I installed Ubuntu 9.04 (Juanty) a few days ago, and it suspends/resume
faultlessly. Ubuntu 9.04 is still a beta version, and I have run into other
problems (some issues with preseed, and abusing tabs in firefox make the
machine trash) but, I think the suspend/resume problem with the Intel
graphic driver, for this card, has finally been solved. I went from minutes
to revive my machine (from hibernate) to seconds ! I have ran the Ubuntu
suspend test script
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/SuspendResumeTesting) and have reported
the success on the feedback page
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/SuspendResumeTesting/Feedback)

As a nice addition, the radio power function (<Fn><F5>) is also working
(wasn't working on Fedora 9, I don't think I actually tested since, just got
into the habit of running iwconfig eth1 txpower off) ; which is very nice, a
lot faster to switch the radio on/off !

Thought I'd let you guys know, in case there are other R51 owners out there.
