Hi Yves!

I've got also a R51 but with a ATI9000, and my suspend / resume was working=
 since a few ubuntu versions.
But I've got problems with the 3D, but that's not important to me.
Anyway, thank you very much for your input, will wait for the release of ub=
untu 9.04!

Nice to know, that there are still some R51 running! ;o)

Regards Heinz

Betreff: [ltp] suspend / resume on the R51 (2885RU)

I have an R51 (an 28885RU with the Intel 855GM graphic card), and over the=
=20
past two years, I used it with Gentoo, Fedora 9 and 10, and Ubuntu 8.05, bu=
t=20
never managed to get it going through a suspend/resume cycle consistently I=
=20
mentioned it on this list a few times and had opened a bug report at=20
freedektop.org (http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3D17833).

I installed Ubuntu 9.04 (Juanty) a few days ago, and it suspends/resume=20
faultlessly. Ubuntu 9.04 is still a beta version, and I have run into other=
=20
problems (some issues with preseed, and abusing tabs in firefox make the=20
machine trash) but, I think the suspend/resume problem with the Intel=20
graphic driver, for this card, has finally been solved. I went from minutes=
=20
to revive my machine (from hibernate) to seconds ! I have ran the Ubuntu=20
suspend test script=20
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/SuspendResumeTesting) and have reported=
=20
the success on the feedback page=20
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/SuspendResumeTesting/Feedback)

As a nice addition, the radio power function (<Fn><F5>) is also working=20
(wasn't working on Fedora 9, I don't think I actually tested since, just go=
t=20
into the habit of running iwconfig eth1 txpower off) ; which is very nice, =
a=20
lot faster to switch the radio on/off !

Thought I'd let you guys know, in case there are other R51 owners out there=
.
