I've used thinkfinger successfully in Jaunty. I didn't use the official
Jaunty version (by accident), I used this PPA:

  deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/jon-oberheide/ubuntu intrepid main

It had bugfixes for some bugs in Intrepid, and, apparently, Jaunty's
version had a lower version number and so was not upgraded.

In Jaunty, there was a long pause (~4 seconds) before the 'password or
swipe finger' prompt, and it was sufficiently irritating that I gave up
and uninstalled thinkfinger after a few weeks.
