Hi David

thanks for replying.

I tried your xorg.conf and several variations, including even a few
different modelines for 2080UX+ that I found elsewhere. Unfortunately
nothing would work at 1600x1200. I am using the latest version 8.561
which is different to your version.

The most reasonable and stable DVI resolution I can drive from my T60
ati X1300 is 1152x864 on this monitor (better, but no cigar). A couple
of higher resolutions do sort of work - but either flickers a bit or has
constant noise all over the screen.

I run a clone display (LVDS+TMDS1) which does work ok.

fglrx seems to honour the modelines, but still nothing. this is very
frustrating.

are you able to see if you can drive the NEC through DVI at 1600x1200@60?
what exact chipset is in your machine?

thanks
Aidan
