On my T60, I get up to f=3:

  Synaptics Touchpad, model: 1, fw: 6.2, id: 0x81a0b1, caps: 0xa04793/0x300000

Note that the touchpad is sufficiently small that I have very little
interest in 3-finger gestures.  Even 2-finger scrolling feels cramped.
