Richard and Damien,
Thanks for the assistance.  This machine seems to play downloaded video
with mplayer.  I gather there are several ways to save youtube videos -
I plan to give that a try.  I'm also reding up on fixing the DSDT and
compiling a custom kernel.  This is just for the satisfaction of making
the thing work - in the end it will still be a 256 MHz laptop ....
