Heh, please forgive me the nitpicking, but that is not the degrees symbol,
it is the masculine ordinal symbol (smallcase o superscript, with a line
below it).  It is not used in english AFAIK, but it is extensively used in
Spanish, Portuguese and other languages.

Degree would be this one: 10°C

For completeness, here are examples of the ordinal symbols: "1º de Maio"
("May 1st" in portuguese) and "1ª esposa" ("first wife" in portuguese).
