[ltp] Radeon Mobility stays on during suspend (T41)

I have Debian Sid with KDE 4.2.4 installed on a T41 (2373-8RU) and am
having power drain issues on suspend. I suspend the laptop via KDE's
Battery Monitor widget on the panel and once suspended I can see the
text console on the screen is still there. The backlight is being
turned off so that is not the issue.

I enabled the Radeon framebuffer as suggested on the Thinkwiki but
there is no change upon suspend. The battery is fairly old but still
holds a good charge and with the current drain on suspend right now its
life is about 6 hours and the laptop remains warm to the touch on the
bottom.

Ideas?
