suspect that the risk is overload and overheating of the AC adapter. My
T61, 14" screen draws 61-65 watts (measured with a "Kill A Watt",
accuracy???) when turned on and charging a nearly charged battery ,
drops back to 5x watts when the battery is charged. Don't know what it
draws if the battery is discharged. With wireless turned on and a
second drive in the ultra bay, it runs in the 70's. I doubt that
charging time will be affected but I would monitor how hot it gets. My
90W gets warm, not hot. <br>

The 90 W / 20 V AC adapter that came with my T60 recently broke - what
are the drawbacks of using a 65 W / 20 V one instead (we have a spare
one of those at work)? Is charging going to take substantially longer?
