[ltp] any successes with 2.5 inch laptop-IDE-drive USB enclosures?

I raised this thread 16 months ago so maybe not too useful any more=2C but =
I thought I would mention the solution I finally adopted.    (The problem w=
as that the 2.5inch IDE notebook USB enclosures I tried did not deliver suf=
ficient power because they drew power from the USB instead of external).

I abandoned the search for a 2.5-inch enclosure and instead used a 3.5 inch=
 enclosure and a 2.5inch-to-3.5inch IDE adapter.      The adapter I am usin=
g is the Startech IDE4044

and the nice thing about this is that it connects the 3.5inch power supply =
to the power pins on the 2.5 inch female socket=2C so the notebook drive ge=
ts the full power supplied by the 3.5inch enclosure (which has its own exte=
rnal power supply).

(The other nice thing is that the adapter costs next to nothing compared to=
 a complete enclosure)
