I'm wondering if the computer might be searching for a CD/DVD unit, or for
units on a SATA controller. I've seen similar behavior on some ASUS
motherboards, where the boot is taking forever because the BIOS is scanning
for CD units, or the SCSI/SATA controller is initializing or waiting for
drives to start.
One should always (if you understand what you're doing, and you do since
you're reading this list) manually set the device types in bios, and not
leave anything to AUTO. the IDE ports not used should be set to "not
configured" or whatever, the "boot from network" should be set to OFF unles=
s
you're using it explicitly, "fast boot" should be enabled in order to skip
memory checks,
hmm, have I left out something? Controllers not actually used should be
disabled in BIOS.

I'm not saying you haven't checked all these already ..
