Why not just booting the iso? There are at least three ways to do it
(burn to a cd, burn to a usb drive, boot directly from your bootloader).

In my case (I use extlinux) I just put the iso file in /boot (be sure
it's called .iso and not .ISO, the detection is case sensitive) and run
extlinux-update.
