Oh dear,

I don't want to fight with you. :-) I only wanted to show you more
options for a low power consumption on Thinkpad x220.
I've read the article on phoronix (
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=intel_i915_power&num=1 <http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=intel_i915_power&num=1>),
in which the authors also acitvated these params. I have seen on mine
x220 that this params work on a thinkpad x220 ...

It's a tip, so I don't care if you will activate it or not .. just
decide for yourself (and think about it ;-) ).

Regards

Although that may work for you, I do not think it is appropriate to
recommend it as a generic solution for everyone. Those options are
disabled by default for a reason. If they were generally safe, then
they would have just been removed and the functionality always
enabled...

They are even more risky in combination. See e.g. the explanation why
FBC was disabled (to make RC6 safer):
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=c1a9f047638b27e481d097910604316b8a0d132b">http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=c1a9f047638b27e481d097910604316b8a0d132b</a>

The options are there for you to try and see if it works for *you*.
Nothing more.
