Hmm. I don't use that; my dmesg says
  [    1.282462] PCI-DMA: Using software bounce buffering for IO (SWIOTLB)
But like I said, I've still been seeing similar issues, which must
have a different cause. So I'd be curious to know whether or not you
still get crashes if you leave the iommu off. (And I've set up
netconsole now too, thanks for the idea.)
