It is not a combination USB and eSATA port, I've seen them before (and
yes we're talking about that thing in the first photo off of that link)
and this isn't that.

If some how there's some new standard of USB+eSATA and this is it, it's
news to me. And like you've said, there's no technical spec regarding eSA=
TA.

A friend of mine suggested simply that after the large tsunami that
struck Japan, Lenovo might have had to find somewhere else to buy USB
ports (among other parts, like the most obnoxious high pitched fan), and
the next cheap yellow ones had these extra funky pin outs.
