Try "xset m X Y" where X and Y are 2 and 5 on my system. See the xset
documentation on details about setting the mouse behaviour.

Yes, /dev/psaux is the PS/2 Mouse device for the TrackPoint.

Gnome shouldn't be a problem at all seeing as you now have a working X
Server.
