I have had 24bpp working on a compaq armada laptop (horrible thing) using 
xfree86 however netscape did nto work quite right with it, animated icons were
B/W but the web pages were 24 bit. had to hack xv and xearth to work right,
which was not to difficult. 24Bpp is possible but really depends is someone has 
written the driver code for the mode.

Does anyone have proper specs for the trident chip?
