Depending on the type of ThinkPad you have, and how old it is, you may be able
to receive a free repair on it. IBM is rather strict, however, on its length of
service contract policy. Even internal IBM machines have to have a documented
supported serial number before service will be rendered. Try calling
1-800-IBM-SERV for hardware support. If the tech is unwilling to help, don't
hesitate to ask to speak with a manager. The techs are not known for their
initiative.....
