On an Debian syste you best edit the file /etc/modutils/aliases. I got my
sound on an TP 770 working with the folowing lines apened at the end of
this file:
alias char-major-14 cs4232
post-install cs4232 /sbin/modprobe "-k" "adlib_card" "ad1848" "uart401"
options cs4232 io=0x530 irq=5 dma=0 dma2=1
options adlib_card io=0x388
after that you have to do a update-modules, which generates the
conf.modules file.
