IBM thinkpad 760EL doesn't boot

First of all, thank you to all of you who have responded to my
question.

The problem I have is the computer doesn't boot, neither from the hard
disk (which is "logic", because it's in a bad state), neither from floppy (I
have not discovered the option for booting from CD in the IBM TP760EL -I think
it hasn't-, so I have not tried the boot from CD).

Somewhere in the test or boot process (at a very initial state of
booting process), the TP access the hard disk and then freezes: it doesn't
arrive at the point where it must boot from floppy. This doesn't happen if I
remove the hard disk (then, it boots correctly from floppy, but I can't do a
hot plug of the HD at that point).

The hard disk is new, so I'll return it to the dealer and see if they
can provide any solution (more technical or low level).

Once again, thanks. If I find out something interesting, I'll post it
to the list.

	Amalio.

P.S.: I'll take a look to the partition programs some of you have suggested
for future configurations.
