770Z Modem

Alec,

The consensus seems to be that the IBM 770X/Z Mwave DSP internal modem is
a total mystery.
(However an IBM developer has hinted that he might write a Linux driver
for it, on his own time).
I'd suggest you find a fairly standard 56K V.90-capable PCMCIA modem card
and use that instead.
