Mark,
You may want to try Redhat 6.0 (if you can stand to DL or order it!).
The sound settings for the TP 770 are built into the kernel from the
start. All you have to do is run sndconfig and set it to your systems
IRQ, IO and DMA settings... then... sound should work 100%.
