1024x768 on 13.7" screen

I've been trying to get a 1024x768 display on the 13.7" screen (max res
1280x1024) but have not been able to come up with a correct Modeline entry
for my XF86Config file.  Every modeline that I've tried causes the screen to
go black.  I'm trying to use 16bpp mode.  Any ideas?  Could someone post
their 1024x768 modeline.  Thanks.
