this question may not be ThinkPad specific but probably some
Linux/ThinkPad user had similar problems and fixed it:
When listening to MP3s through the ThinkPad's DSP audio, console bells
(for instance by doing 'Backspace' in an xterm or ^G) are very annoying.
Is there a way to disable the 'PC speaker' temporarily? I know, in xterm
I could use 'visual bell', but there are still other apps (biff, pcmcia
card insert/eject..) which once in a while feel obliged to ring that
bell.
PS: Has anyone tried to run this PS2.EXE program in DOSEMU? Would it be
possible to change settings this way and even make them active without
rebooting Linux?
