I have an IBM Thinkpad 770 with a 233 MHz processor, 128 MB ram and a 4
GB hard drive.
I partitioned the hard drive giving Micro $ NT and Linux approximately 2
GB each. I
am running Debian 2.1 slink with linux kernel 2.2.12. The problem is
that my OS of
choice--linux--keeps on crashing my labtop. I thought that this crashing
problem was
related to the old kernel (2.0.36) I was running; however, my labtop is
still crashing
when it left idle for over an hour even though I have upgraded my kernel
to 2.2.12.
Someone had suggested installing apmd; I installed latest version of
apmd and that didn't
help either.
In the kernel configuration (I attached my .config file) I enabled
CONFIG_EXPERIMENTAL, CONFIG_APM_IGNORE_MULTIPLE_SUSPEND,
CONFIG_APM_IGNORE_SUSPEND_BOUNCE and CONFIG_APM_ALLOW_INTS as suggested
by at "http://resources.inw.com/linux/thinkpad770/node11.html" but my
labtop is still crashing.
The machine usually crashes when I leave it idle for over an hour. When
the machine crashed
it froze everything, even the power button; I have to "unplug" the
batery to restart the machine.
I will be very grateful of any help that I receive to resolve this
problem.
Thanks in advance.
