Anyone able to hibernate a 770Z and live to computer another day?
My adventure went like:
0) Linux running, F6 current console, X running on F7.
1) Fn+F12. Hibernate "graph" appears then powers off. Looks normal.
2) Power on. Hibernate "graph" appears followed by linux on F6. X
running okay too.
3) shutdown -h now. usual shutdown followed by power down.
4) Power on. It appears to start booting then abruptly powers down only
to come back a few seconds later at which point "195" appears.
A cryptic "STOP?" dialog appears with "Okay" and "Cancel" choices.
"Cancel" brings up an image which seems to imply "read the manual".
The manual says error code 195 is caused by date mismatch on
hibernation file or configuration change.
"Okay" repeats the process.
Things that don't help:
a) holding F1 to bring up bios
b) bootable floppy in floppy drive
c) bootable CDROM in DVD drive
d) recovery disk in DVD drive (in case it's magically "better" than a
normal bootable disk)
e) reset button
f) holding power button for a couple minutes (don't laugh, the idea came
from my newton)
Things that added to the confusion but didn't help either:
g) tapping Shift while it was deciding whether to boot or not brought up
the BIOS test menu
h) tapping Fn+F12 during bootup appeared to capture the broken state
in the hibernation file
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks,
mark
