I it not a desktop replacement, which is what I need. I am looking for a
luggable notebook with 90% of the capabilities and about 80% of the speed of a
desktop. I am a developer and have 2 770's: one a 770ED and one a 770Z 13.7"
SXGA LCD and what I LOVE is the fact that I can interchange disks between both
notebooks, run Linux, and use 14.1 GB drives with decent sound and DVD support,
and I can add enough memory to be able to run as a server AND a client.
Personally I think the 600 is a PORTABLE notebook, but does NOT fit the bill as
a desktop replacement notebook.
I think it's a real shame that the 770 line will not continue to become an even
faster cpu with more desktop capabilities. To me, it is worth the premium,
especially when disks, dvd drives, floppy drives, and power connector are
interchangeable (at least between the 770ED and the 770Z).

I was told by an IBM rep that the 770Z would be available for several more months and now the resellers we buy them from can't get them. (Only what's left on the shelf is what is left basically.) The 600, on the other hand, is the hot seller which is almost as good, but cheaper, thinner and lighter than the 770.
