Apologies if I am repeating all the usual questions again, so a URL to a
good source of information (such as a walkthrough) will do nicely...
I'm having a couple of problems with my IBM ThinkPad 600. It's a P2-300
variety of TP600.
I'm attempting to get the IR and serial ports working, hopefully both at
the same time. I know I have no use for the parallel port and the ACP
modem, so I have diabled both of those (using PS2.EXE from a DOS boot
disk).
It appears to have a PC87338 IR controller, and when I irattach irda0,
the words "Wrong chip id 0x06" or "Wrong chip id 0x0c" appears in my
/var/spool/messages. The same happens for irattach /dev/ttyS0. irattach
then quits.
tpctl and setserial agree that resource 1 (the IR, IIRC), are at
/dev/ttyS0 and that the DB9 (resource 2) is on /dev/ttyS1.
I know it can work, because I'm sure I saw IrOBEX packets found by
irdadump, when pointing my Palm Vx at it, and attempting to beam at the
laptop. I immediately put the settings in my /etc/rc.d/rc.local (I'm
running Slackware 7.0, with Openwall + USB). It has not worked since :(
While I'm on the subject of serial ports, I am also attempting to get the
DB9 connecting to my mobile phone. I have gnokii and a Nokia 5130. This
setup is known to work on another machine, and I was hoping to have it
work on the TP600 too.
I've been attempting to get these working for several days now (almost a
week, in fact), and would aprreciate a hand with it. If you need the
output of any commands, just ay, and I'll post them back. Aside from that,
any help is gratefully recieved. I'm finally admitting defeat, after a
wee trying...
Thanks in advance
