Does the CD also recover the TP if someone treid LM Sensors ? If so, me
too ! ;-)

Wellll, ya never know, do ya. ;-)

I'm personally not sure if IBM's delivery of some of the S/W on the CD
via web might be enough (even on an AS-IS basis).

Things like:

Real hard core documentation (for Thomas and tpctl) or a official
IBM PS2 for Linux.
MWave support (couldn't miss this one now could I ?)
Video support ;-)) (See Video for Linux)
    LM Sensors safety....
Support on the audio front (again detailed tech specs, that
could/can help ALSA driver development)
Support on the video front (suspend/hibernation with X)
Support on the H/W front (Hot/suspended docking station support)
    A new battery for my 770X. ;-)
    Pizza.

Being a long time TP user (360P,701,755,760,770), I guess I could build
quite an extensive wish list for complete Linux-ThinkPad satisfaction.
And with the assistance of the list members, it would probably be a long
list of items. :-)

Bill.

BTW: I read that the newer ThinkPads expect the hibernation partion to
have an ID that is the same as the one used by BSD (OpenBSD I think),
and that there are a few angry BSD-ThinkPad users around. Check out the
BSD pages for info about the models and partition ID.

We did not (and probably still do not) expect there would be enough demand
for it to justify the effort involved with making it a stand-alone product.
As it is now, the recovery CD set is to be used as a tool for recovering
the preload image, perhaps on instruction from an IBM HelpCenter support
specialist. The recovery CD's are only intended for use on the specific
hardware configuration on which Linux is preloaded, and so would require
much additional testing (and possibily modification) before it can be released
for use on other models. There are also other issues involved with making
it a product that IBM could support (including publications, HelpCenter
training, etc.).</font></font></blockquote>
