  I just tried the latest round of patches for XFree86 to get the ThinkPad
working. 

  The panel clock detection now seems to be working properly (no more 25MHz
crap :))

  The card is properly detected as an AGP Mach 64 Rage Mobility with 230MHz
RAMDAC and the driver loads with an apparently crisp display.

   The display is still striped and thus unusable.


Reasons for the problems that have been fixed for those who care:
   - The video BIOS sets clock 0 to something other than the panel clock
   - The video BIOS locks both shadow AND non-shadow registers

I'll keep you posted with any updates as they become available.
