Both the ThinkPad configuration program for Windows and
/usr/sbin/sndconfig report
a CS4610 / 11 on my system. I'm assuming that I have this chip.
I have tried to replace your /etc/conf.modules with the one suggested
by Manoj Kasichainula. The outcome is not better:
