Hi,

It sounds like you are ambitious and want to learn linux. However, you
would be better off starting with a more resent distribution (such as
RedHat 6.1). RedHat can be downloaded for free - don't know if you have
access to a high-speed internet connection. There should be sites that
have RedHat 6.1 in Tiawan; go to www.redhat.com and you should be able
to find the list of mirror sites.

Also, as Geert pointed out, you shouldn't start with a developement
kernel such as 2.3.xxx The devlopement versions are labeled with odd
version numbers - the stable versions have even verion numbers; 2.2.xxx
are stable versions 2.3.xxx are developement versions. (This even/odd
version scheme is used with a lot of software.)

It is hard for people on this list to answer questions that involve lots
of problems - we are much better at solving one problem at a time. To
get the most help you should have a configuration close to what most
other people are using (RedHat 6.1 is a good starting point - or the
latest version of Debian).

Good Luck,
Tom
