[ltp] X11 is slugish

I'm using 2.2.13.  If you have the 1280x1024 screen, you'll need to use
VGA mode 775 (hex 307).  I have "vga=775" in my /etc/lilo.conf.  I also
run my X server in 16-bit mode.  I don't recall whether that matters.
