Is it that Linux won't show anything on your screen at all, or just that X
(the graphical mode) won't work?
If X won't work, run XF86Setup (or, if
even that won't work, xf86config) and set the *horizontal* refresh rate to
the lowest setting applicable for your screen resolution, and set the
*vertical* refresh rate to 60 Hz (not a range, just 60 Hz -- AFAIK LCD's
noly work at 60 Hz or slightly lower rates.)
